Meltem Quinlan

Meltem Quinlan was born in Ankara, Turkey in 1963 graduating from Ege University, Izmir where she read economics. After setting up a public relations business she moved to London in the late 1980s where she has continued to live ever since.

Meltem has attended part-time fine art courses at Chelsea and Richmond Schools of art and then she committed to full-time painting at Heatherley School of Fine Art in Chelsea where she has been able to explore new avenues and develop her own painterly language.

Meltem’s work is drawn from sources as diverse as the figure, landscape and memory and realised through a process of layering and constant revision exploiting a variety of media and finishing with oil paint. At their conclusion the paintings have abstracted and taken on their own life presenting the observer with penetrable surfaces that with deeper scrutiny invite them to embark on a visual, sensual and emotional journey.

The artist’s work is collected by corporate and private clients and she exhibited in August 2007 in the Earl’s Court Festival at the Troubadour Gallery. She had a solo exhibition from 3rd to 9th September 2007 at The Gallery Cork Street Mayfair and also exhibited from 9th to 30th November 2007 at Galeriazero Barcelona Spain and exhibited from 11th to 31st December 2007 at Squareone Gallery Chelsea.

A new exhibition opens on May 9th at SquareOneGallery, Chelsea.
